Calgary Public Library System
The Calgary Public Library system includes the downtown Central Library and twenty community library locations in Calgary. They work under the mission, “Empowering community by connecting you to ideas and experiences, inspiration, and insight”.
Founded in 1912, Calgary Public Library has grown to become the second largest library system in Canada, and the sixth largest municipal library system in North America. They are home to more than 740,000 members who enjoy free access to the books, e-resources, services, and programs available at our community libraries that welcome more than 6.9 million visitors each year.
“Potentials Realized” is the unifying vision of this library system, which promotes the values of Inclusion, Curiosity, and Collaboration, and strives to improve the quality of life for library members. The Calgary Public Library has been inspiring the life stories of Calgarians for more than 100 years.
