For more than two centuries, writers have lived, gathered, and touched down in Calgary. Scores of novelists, poets and essayists have captured the city’s historic and contemporary landmarks in words.
Shaun Hunter, author of Calgary through the Eyes of Writers, served as the Calgary Public Library/Heritage Calgary 2020 Historian in Residence. During her time there, she created a digital exhibit revealing the extensive and surprising dimensions of Calgary’s literary landscape. Her map is a visual representation of how Calgary has been written. Anyone who spends some time delving into this map is bound to look at the city a little differently.
