It’s a new year, new you, right? Don’t fall for that. Last year’s you was good enough and this year’s you will be good enough, too. More importantly, a new year means new magazine issues drop! We’re sharing just a few of the latest Alberta magazine issues to hit our mailbox.

There’s nothing like an Editor’s Message to highlight all the great content you’ll find inside a magazine. We turn to the words of Erin Moroz, editor of Mountain Life Rocky Mountains, to introduce us to the Winter 2026 issue:
“This winter at Mountain Life Rocky Mountains, we explore what it means to be rooted. From carving turns through dry powder at down-home Castle Mountain Resort to tracing the gnarled limbs of ancient limber pines. We hear trees turned into music. Meet people whose healing work grows from horses, land and connections. And watch from the sidelines, as one of our own chases her homespun dream on Robson’s south face.”
For the January/February issue of Alberta Views, we have a peek inside the Forever Canadian signature-collecting campaign to keep Alberta in Canada. In keeping with the theme, there is an article on “The Politics of Polling…with Alberta Separation on the ballot” where we learn about the history of polling in Canada, the impact of polling in Alberta, and more specifically what polls are saying about support for Alberta separatism. In her piece “The Case for Sticking Around,” Senator and columnist Paula Simons states that “Albertans aren’t quitters. So let’s not quit Canada. Let’s fight to make it better, fairer and more prosperous for everyone, Albertans included.”
The January/February issue of Culinaire includes a delicious celebration of Lunar New Year with recipes from local chefs. There are also Valentine’s Day date ideas, an introduction to a local wild game processing business, in-depth looks at everything from tea to port and whisky, and reviews of the latest cookbooks. There’s something for everyone in here, with carefully curated and decidedly Albertan culinary highlights.
As Culinaire’s Linda Garson describes in her Letter from the Publisher “In a world of information increasingly controlled by algorithms, click bait, and social media, we feel it’s our job to weed out the noise and let you know what is happening, what is important, and why it matters to you.” Let the magazines sort through it all for you, and enjoy the read.
